Motivating Self-Discovery Through Childhood Memories

Speaker 1

Welcome to another episode of Leo's Liberation . I'm your host , ray , and I'm here to add a perk of positivity to your Mondays and to help you mentally energize and carry a good thought with you throughout the week , and Friday we'll reconvene and I'll help reflect and then we'll kind of move into the weekend feeling a little bit less stressed , hopefully . I hope that you enjoyed your weekend and I hope that was well spent . Whether you were at home enjoying a hobby , your family or engaging in carnal escapades or at least planning to or whether you were at work receiving a text message from a friend who wanted to send you a photo of them having a better time than you , that counts as a good weekend too , as long as you got to laugh at it . Remember to laugh at yourself the best takeaway from the weekend you're still here to explore more opportunities and make the changes that make you a better you .

Speaker 1

Like many of you , I worked this weekend . After work , I didn't have time to prepare for today's morning release , so I decided that we could still start the week together , but we make it through our Monday first and then we push through the week with that thought to carry us . We will get through this week . I promise you that I went through the start of my work weekend a little bit stressed , but it ended , even though I was a little exhausted . It ended and it ended in a good way . You know , I really had a feeling of being blessed and thankful for the people that I've encountered in my life . But you know , that feeling was oddly amplified this morning on my way to work and the music just had a little bit better of a tune . It was energizing , and this was all basically due to just interactions over the past 72 hours . You know , these thoughts and feelings brought about a thought of , you know , a little bit of nostalgia , but more importantly , it reminded me of a motivating piece of advice that was provided to me when I was a kid . A lot of my best memories come from childhood because obviously that's when you're kind of free and you don't have the stresses that we have today as grownups . But you know , I'm sure a lot of us do have great memories as children . I'm hoping you can kind of dig deep and find some of those and just kind of relive them for a second , because there's nothing in the world that makes you feel better .

Speaker 1

I never covered this before , but the meaning of Leo's liberation . This is all about self-discovery . If you're living life , self-discovery is an ongoing experience and sometimes it takes effort . As we get older , we change . We change mentally , we change physically , emotionally . You know the way we see life . Our perspective is totally different as we age , which is always a good thing , sometimes not , but whether you look at it as a negative or positive , it is a good thing because you're growing as a person . We all grow in different ways and we have different experiences that make us grow , but we're always and constantly growing , um , and you know , until that final day . But you know , this is what makes us great . It's what gives us hope for better us and a better next day , liberating ourselves from those things that mean nothing versus the things that make us who we are . For each of us , this journey is a little bit different , but in the end , we can't take any of it with us , but we can leave behind a memory of who we were . We're always aiming to be the best uh that we can be . You know , taking a break to relax and just letting things happen is fine too , you know , come what may , right , at least that's what I've heard . So the . You know , as I was saying , because you know I love to stray during conversation the thought to get us to friday this week .

Speaker 1

Thinking back to , you know , when I was a kid a kid as I've already said there was some information and just advice . That was or I guess , encouragement that was bestowed upon me and it was probably the greatest thing I've ever heard as a child and it has stuck with me for the past . What 30 something odd years . It has been my motivation , it's been my go-to . But you know , my moment moment , as mentioned , was basically from childhood . I've shared it with a few people , but it is seriously the main motivation that drives me from day to day and helps me to overcome challenges in life . Uh , you know , just kind of when you kind of want to give up , but you know you can't , um . So you know .

Speaker 1

Onward to the story . So , basically , when I was about seven or eight , um back in the eighties , we had that thing where families gathered around the TV . I'm not sure if people still do that , but that's what we did back in the eighties , cause we didn't have the internet and I'm pretty sure you guys have heard this a thousand times If you're younger and you're listening to this . Uh , but you know me and my family . We were gathered around the TV in a sense we're just at least sitting in the Watching TV , and I think the commercial break came on and I'm not really sure what sparked the conversation .

Speaker 1

But my mom asked each of us what we want to be when we grew up , and my older brother and older sister both mentioned something to the effect of doctors , lawyers . You know the , the normal kid responses . Maybe it's because of what you saw back on TV , or maybe it's just an expectation , maybe it's what you hear in school . I don't know why that's always the go to , but when my turn came around , I did tell my mom that I wanted to rule the universe . That is what I wanted to be when I grew up .

Speaker 1

Apparently , I've always been obsessed with being in charge , I guess since birth . I'm not sure how that works out , but yeah , maybe it's just a birthright , I'm not sure . Anyhow , my brother and sister , you know , at that time they laughed at me . You know , as brothers and sisters do . That's just kind of their job to harass you , and they kind of made fun of my ambition . But my mom , as any mother would do , she quickly moved in and she reinforced my pursuit for greatness . She told me I could be anything that I wanted to be .

Speaker 1

And you know , at that moment I couldn't recall what my little brother and little sister stated but I don't think they were old enough to even talk at that moment or at least understand what the conversation was that we were having but I really couldn't recall what they they said , just basically , because that that level of encouragement literally just engulfed me for about a few minutes , I think , to where I want to say almost blacked out , like I think I was , it just , I think it just took , took me over for a second , um . But you know , just before I turned back around and start watching , watching cartoons , cause you know , you hear the cartoons come on , it's like it snaps you out of your you snapped out of that , that stage of hypnosis , um . But you know in the Bay and in basics , that that one moment of encouragement or advice is what I believe to be my secret to success . Um , and yet again , success is different for all of us , um , but for me I'm not rich , but I'm happy and I'm alive , and I think for me that's , that's all I asked for and the greatest thing is everything that I've set out to pursue or to accomplish . You know it's either come to pass or I've've actually accomplished it . So , like I say , I can't ask for more . I'm very thankful for you know what has happened .

Speaker 1

You know my challenge to you guys this week . I want you to think back to a positive bit of advice that has kind of stuck with you and , you know , let this be that thing that fuels you . You know , keep it in your back pocket and bring it to the forefront of your mind when you're experiencing a challenging time . This week or any day hereafter , we've all received some good advice from somebody at one time . Some of us may have to think long and hard about this , but we have all received that advice . It can be from a family member , your mom , your dad , your brother , your sister , your best friend . It can be from your boss . It can be from the damn janitor who cleans the building , I don't care , but we have all received some type of advice that has stuck with us and it constantly rings in our head from time to time and I think that's just your mind , your soul's way of reminding you go . You know , go in this direction .

Speaker 1

So definitely take out a second whenever you have time . You know when you're laying in bed tonight if you're not already there , but it's just take out a second and just think of that one positive thing . That can be a driver for you for this week , that can be a driver for you for this week , um , you know . And ? And secondly , uh , I would almost say , if you have children or anyone important in your life , uh , this is where the power of words um , I've actually thought the the power of conversation , uh , the power of just , you know , encouragement uh , this is where that kind of comes into play , in my personal opinion , yet again . But you know , if you have any children or someone important in your life , you know , encouragement this is where that kind of comes into play , in my personal opinion , yet again .

Speaker 1

But you know , if you have any children or someone important in your life , you know , give them some positive advice this week . You'll be surprised how far those words will carry this person . Better yet , if you see a stranger in the street or in a grocery store and you just see they may be having a hard day , give them some positive encouragement , because for some people , that that one bad moment , feels like the world is ending , but it doesn't have to , right ? So just , you know , yet again , you'll be surprised how far words can carry a person , especially if they're positive , because those are the things that change us all to some extent . But you know , children , they're sponges , they absorb that stuff and this stuff sticks with them . So definitely , you know , you kind of want to water them , as people say , so they can grow , but you know , yet again , that advice is going to act like a moral compass of sorts and it's going to point them in the right direction every time and keep them moving forward , always , at least in my experience .

Ending Monday With Positive Energy

Speaker 1

So , as always , people , I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to sign off , but you know I always want you to take care of yourself and take care of each other . And you know we're ending Monday together . I promise next week we will start together . I still have not gotten the social media . I promise you guys that is coming as well , but you know I do look forward to chatting with you guys on Friday . I want you all to have a great week and be safe and spread that positive energy and make someone's day and yours a better one . Have a great week , guys , thank you .
